Rolling Quartz - FightingRolling Quartz's first EP was released on February 8, 2022. 'Fighting', one of the 26 Korean words recently added to the Oxford Dictionary, is now English, Korean, and a world language. In this word, the strong feeling of Rolling Quartz's music is shared in meaning and expressed the hope that it will be actively communicated. In addition, the recording process of this album, which proceeded like a war, and the feelings of Rolling Quartz, who are active in struggle in the Korean music industry, which is barren for rock bands, and the members themselves in the current situation overlapping the stagnant Korean band scene with the corona situation It is also a message of support to the fandom (Diadem) and everyone. Good Night

-       This is my favorite track in the EP. The track has an uplifting vibe that makes you feel good when listening it. I appreciate the guitar riffs it is more with the grunge elements mixed with modern rock and hard rock elements. I also love the vocalist voice. It is powerful and badass at the same time. The chorus line, “run run run” is playing in my head often. It has a LSS and you would surely love it.

Delight

-       I had made a reaction video of this track back in the previous season and you may want to check it. The guitar riff is fast paced and you will feel excited as you listen it. I like how the guitarist makes an attack on their guitar plays it is playful and they showcased their talents very well. The vibe of the song has more with hard rock and it is satisfying to listen.

Honorable Mention

Higher

-       The MVP on this song is the vocalist. I appreciate on how she sings. Her voice is powerful. It give the depth of the song and emphasis the heaviness of the song. It give me a goosebumps when I listened it for the first time. Her voice is perfect and she hit the notes very well.

Least Faves

진달래꽃

-       The song has more on the grunge vibe and it is a decent song. What shows a lackluster on this is track is the vocalist power on executing the song. Maybe it is just me, but I don’t feel her execution on singing the song that much. I think she just need more power on the carrying out the song.

Verdict

I am satisfied listening this EP. The girls went well on executing each track and they showcased their talents. I appreciate the passion and effort that they made on this EP. It was crafted with love and devotion. It shows an improvement as we compare it from their first song, Blaze.

The MVP on this track is Jayong as she unleashes her prowess on delivering the song. Meanwhile, guitarists, Hyung jung and Iree were also worth to mention. They offer us a grungy and hard rocking guitar plays. The riffs were satisfying and even a non rock fan would surely notice it.

Overall the EP is listen-worthy. It changes my perception on the Korean music which before I had more impression that their music is more on K-pop thingy. This band can be a forerunner for the K-Rock scene and promote it all around the world.
