Top favorites

 Handshake with Hell

I had made already a reaction video on this song and you could check out the cards that will appear on the screen.

This is the unique track in the album since it shows the different side of Alissa. On this song she sang on clean vocals on the chorus and do growls on the verses. The song gives more on “The Agonist” vibe. It shows her dynamics in singing since you will hear her range from deep voice on growls to high pitch on the clean vocals. It amazing since you could see her talent very well. It might kinda surprising to the loyal AE fans since most listeners are used to know AE that the vocals has more on growls. It seems that It gives a new face of the band when the clean singing is introduced.

In the Eye of the storm

The song has more on the Gothenberg vibe. The MVPs here are the guitar plays of Michael and Jeff.  It offers dark and melodical riffs that a listener would remind of the old Arch Enemy days. The riffs are so satisfying that you could picture the song as inviting you to the dark. This song's pre-chorus will captivate you right away since it offers strong kick just like taking a black coffee.

The Watcher

This track really got me, when the first time I listened it, I started to fall in love.. IT Offers a catchy riffs, especially on the chorus, it plays on my mind. It is interesting that you would go on mosh on the chorus parts. The riffs reminds of War Eternal. The combination of Alissa’s growls and Michael and Jeff’s guitar plays build a good sound blending that a listener would surely appreciate. If you could compare this to a coffee, it offers the sweet yet strong taste.

Honorable Mention

Deceiver, Deceiver

I Had made a single review on this track last season, so far nothing’s changed on my view. The MVP for me in this song is Daniel. His drum plays is like a machine gun firing at your ears. The technicality, ferocity, and heaviness are all present. Listening to his play the drums is enjoyable.

Sunset Over the Empire

This track offers tremendous songwriting and production. This track offers soaring Lead guitars, there is melody over a strong and vibrating bass end, and there is a hypnotic chorus that is the stuff of metal bands' fantasies. This track would be a great starter for an Arch Enemy live set that make a metalhead would set their mood for a moshpit.

Least Faves

Spreading Black Wings

For me this track is least powerful track in the album. It doesn’t offer the depth in songwriting and melodies are uninspired comparing on the other track. I don’t feel the vibe of this song that much. The song is just right but doesn’t match the perfection of the other tracks.

Rating  3.75/5

Comparing on the other albums, this album would be different; it is like the band’s reinvention of their sound. We get used to their dark and aggressive riffs and deep growls. But this time, the band had incorporate new styles that a listener would surely appreciate. It has a different listening experience comparing on 2 previous albums. You will love to explore the different tracks in this album. This album offers an upbeat that favors beauty above melancholy. The band gives us a wide spectrum of impact and offers the sound without being overwhelming. There is a feeling of freedom, confidence, and enjoyment in what the band has delivered here.

The listening experience that I had in this album is satisfying. It is fresh and playful to the ears. I am giving praise on the band for giving out their love and energy in this album.
