The Road Less Traveled is the Debut EP of metalcore band,  Days of January. It was released in 2015 independently.  The song “No One Knows about Shekainah” was one of the song in the album that made the band became popular and build a strong fan base.

Fortitude

This is my most favorite song in the EP. It offers an uplifting vibe and It has a catchy and heavy sound that make you mosh and bang your head.  The guitar plays offers good riffs and it pleases my ear very much. Together with the drums, the blending of the two instruments creates a satisfying sound. I also love the clean vocals here. His voice is sweet and you will love to sing along on the lyrics.

On the lyrics at first I thought this is a love song. However as read the full lyrics, it tells about spiritual relationship with God. The song tells about that God will never leave and forsake us in times of challenges and just have faith on him. Let me share some of the lyrics:

This song gives hope and motivation for those facing odds in life. It is very meaningful and highly suggested to listen.

No One Knows About Shekainah

The signature song of the band. Every fan knows this song so much and no doubt that this song is good in terms of melody and the lyrics.

The melody offers sophisticated sound and refined vibes. The song transition is also good; you won’t predict as the song goes. The song started with slow and calm drum and guitar plays then transitions to aggressive and heavy riffs and growls. It amazing! They will bring you surprises as you listen further the track.

The MVP here is the lyrics. The song also tells about Importance of God in our lives. It offers a meaningful message. A listener especially Christians would surely appreciate the lyrics very much. However, i got bit surprised due to some of the lyrics has profanity. This is the first time that I heard a Christian metal song that has profanity. It might receive a mixed perception to the listeners. For me, it is fine.

The Rake

I made a reaction video on this song back in Season 2. My thoughts remain the same in this song. The song offers catchy sound and excellent growls and clean vocals. It is executed perfectly and I am giving a kudos.  One thing lacking in this song is it is too short. As you’ll get into song, the song ends. It is just like you ordered a cup of coffee and started to like it however you will realized that it is already empty.

Least Faves

Agape

Among all of the tracks in this EP, this is the weakest. The song lacks is power and charm comparing on the other tracks. The sound is not interesting as the other tracks. It is kinda uninspired for me. However one thing that I praise in this song is the perfect execution of the clean vocals.

This is a must have for those fans of Christian music. The EP offers one of kind listening experience and if you’re getting tired of listening typical Christian music and wanting an aggressive yet worshiping God then this EP IS PERFECT FOR YOU!

The tracks offers deep and meaningful message that you will inspire and motivate. The song writing of each song offers it in a different level. They share their creativity and talent. The melody is uplifting and inspiring at the same time. Each member contributed their love and talent very well and they displayed their prowess on each song.

Overall I had so much fun listening this EP. I am looking forward to see this band live. They have the potential to play in the mainstream music as well.
