Leo romero epigensis ep review

Leo Romero launches his solo project in 2016 combining the instrumental style by guitarists such as Sergey Golovin, Emil Werstler, Wes Hauch among others and mixing it with an aggressive Death, Djent and Progressive metal style, the main subject in his music, despite not having lyrics, is based on futuristic themes, astronomy and dystopian futures as well as having an artwork that reflects this in his releases

In the year 2017 he released the mini Ep titled "Nebula" with which he began playing some live shows and giving guitar clinics, in 2020 he released 2 singles titled "Gargantua" and "Prometheus"which come off of his EP "Epigenesis" which was released on march 2022, accompanied by a live performance in july of the same year. For the rest of the year Leo plans to release new singles and promote his most recent Ep playing as many live shows as possible.

Epigenesis  - I feel the melody of the song. Especially on the high pitch guitar parts. I appreciate that. It gives a pessimist and sad tone. Title itself gives a definition where how your behavior and environment

can cause changes your genes work. I could visualize the song where a subject is affected on the apocalyptic future and his express depression and losing all hope on what is happening on the environment.

Prometheus – it gives the mix of djent and progressive metal sound. It’s a one of kind and relaxing to the ears. It stresses out the emotion of the song. The visual that I could give in this song is a chaotic future where a person trapped inside and tries to find a way out.

Gargantua – this one gives a funky / progmetal sound. It makes an interesting sound that caught my attention. This track is one of my top faves. The theme of the song gives more on astronomical side where a black hole is eating up other planets. From the title itself, Gargantua is a black hole. Leo provided a good melody in relating his music to space. If possible that you are traveling in space, play this music.

 Apophis – this song offer faster tempo and shows more on a speed metal / death metal type. It would be a great suggestion if this song would include a death metal vocals it would surely appreciate it. In this song , I could visualize the scenery in a war. Where explosions are present everywhere and I lot of people died. This song could be perfect for a war film.

Eros – This track just offers guitar plays and shreds. It is straightforward in your face metal. I love the complexity of the guitar plays and it is soothing to the ears. I could suggest listening this track at the very end due to the simplicity of the song. I could visualize that the war has ended in this song and peace and love reins as the shreds shows the emotion of peace.

The EP will exercise your imagination and will build scenery based on the tone of the song. Each song has different experience and for sure a listener would have a different experience on this. For me, He is excellent on stressing out the shreds on his guitar plays. It displays emotion and even this is instrumental, the guitar plays will sing for you and tell you a story. I rarely listen to instrumentals but this EP would give an exception. The artist is exceptional and talented. He knows how to craft his music and choose the right sound that would fit on his song.

Overall, the listening experience is superb and looking forward for his other material.
