GREEN DAY - FATHER OF ALL... ALBUM REVIEW

Father of All Motherfuckers (also known by the censored title Father of All...) is the thirteenth studio album by American rock band Green Day, released on February 7, 2020, through Reprise Records. Produced by Butch Walker, Chris Dugan, and the band, the album marks a slight change in style from the band's usual sound, incorporating garage rock elements similar to that of their tenth studio album, ¡Dos!.

The album was preceded by four singles; "Father of All...", "Fire, Ready, Aim", "Oh Yeah!" and "Meet Me on the Roof". It debuted atop the UK Albums Chart and Australian ARIA Albums Chart, among others. Despite chart success, the album received polarized reviews from critics, with praise for the album's brisk pace and energy, but criticism for its lyrics and runtime.

Top Faves

Graffitia

The song is uplifting and enjoyable to listen, you will feel good to listen this song if you are not well. The song is also repetitive. I love how Billie Delivered the song. You will love to sing along with him. I love the chorus parts

Are we the last forgotten? Are we the long lost love? Are we the last forgotten? Are we the long lost love?

Ironically, the song is about Rust Belt factories in the 80's getting closed and about black kids getting shot by Chicagoan police officers due to prejudice.

Another black kid was shot in town A man with the badge and a daytime show Darkness falls on Graffitia Death of a town in the afterglow

I Was a Teenage Teenager

I like the approach of the song, very chill and relaxing. The guitars and basslines were good to listen. Accomapined of the drum hits, it’s fun to listen

The lyrical content of the song reflects the band’s teenage years

The song follows an outsider who hates going to school as he feels alienated by society in general.

It reminds me of their 1992 Kerplunk from their songs Christie Road and No One Knows

Honorable Mentions

Stab You in the Heart

the riffs reminds of an old rock n roll music mixed with pop punk influences, it kinda mix of rock and roll music with modern twist

The lyrical content of the song tells an angry narrator who's ready to kill his wife after discovering her infidelity.

Sugar Youth

I love the chorus parts you will love to sing the chorus parts again. It’s repetitive that you love to sing it.

I don't wanna be a Romeo I don't wanna be a Romeo I don't wanna be a Romeo, no

The song tell about an anxious narrator at a party who's scared to go alone and is desperate to get a girl to spend the night with.

Junkies on a High

the song has more on popish vibe, I love how billie sings on the song. The slow phasing of the song is just right and it relaxing.

The lyrics tells about a narrator relaxing, reflecting about himself, and getting high while the world around him crumbles. The theme is cool and I am just imaging the song is like relaxing while the apocalypse is happening

Least Faves

Father of All

The carrier single of the album, I am impressed on billie singing, he present a new vocal style which pitching a higher falsetto voice. When I heard it, I surprised me a bit since, it very different from the traditional green day songs. I think he did it to cater more fans on their music and the fans wont get tired on their style. But what makes this song in the least faves since iam finding the Greenday style song. Another thing is, the song is kinda boring unlike the other tracks.

Rating 3 /5

The album is fun to listen and I give it thumbs UP on the album. There are some strong point and weak points on the album; The strong points ARE the melodies are good and uplifting it offers a catchy sound and their music offers pop punk mixed with punk and rock and roll. The low points of this album are less inspired and nothing unique unlike with their previous albums. There’s kinda boring part that makes me sometimes not to listen the album.

As I said, the tracks here are less inspired, Green day just want to make music and that’s it. I’m looking for the Green day with the likes of American Idiot, Dookie and 21st Century Breakdown, which what I am looking on this album. They also toned down on the political themes on this album.

Another thing, the album is too short, for less than 30 minutes you will finished the entire album which lacks my excitement to listen further. Nakaka bitin sya!

On the other hand, I could feel that Billie and the gang enjoying their music well. The tracks is more on radio friendly approach.
